Printing Method:

Photo cards are printed flat except when otherwise stated in the card description.  Thermography (raised printing) is available for $60 extra.

True engraved printing and letterpress printing are also available at an additional charge.  Printing time is about 7 business days --and even longer the closer it gets to the holidays.  If you want engraved or letterpress printing, please order early to avoid disappointment.  If you would like us to price your order with engraved printing, please indicate this in the last box on your order form (where you're invited to ask any questions about your order).

Ink:  Your choice at no extra charge.  Available colors are Black, Brown, Burgundy, Crimson, Gold, Green, Navy, Plum, Red, Silver and Woodland Green. White or Ecru ink are available only for engraved printing. Click here to see the available ink colors.

Two color ink: You may add a second color ink to your card for an additional $80 for flat and thermography, $200 for engraved, $125 for letterpress. The chage applies to each item ordered, i.e., $80 for two-color-ink invitations and $80 for two-color-ink envelope flaps.

Other custom print options: You may be interested in other custom-print options. Please give your instructions in the "Other Instructions" area of the order form:

Text:  Use your own text (up to 7 lines at no additional charge) or select one of the suggested greetings.  Click here to see the available suggested greetings.  Additional lines over 7 are $6 per line for the whole order.

Photos/Logos: William Arthur can print your photo or logo.  Email us the photo or logo in .tiff, .jpg or .pdf format, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi resolution.  If you are sending a logo and it is mostly line art, it should be at a resolution of at least 800 dpi.  If possible, compress the file using .zip, .sit or .sitx.  There is no additional charge for logos and line art printed in the same color as your text.  Printing logos and line art in a different color than the rest of the text requires the "second ink color" charge (see above).  The charge for printing photos is $160.  Note that photos are printed as half-tones, but can be printed in any color ink.  So if you want your text in black ink and your photo in a sepia tone, the addtional charges would be $160 for the photo fee plus $80 for the second ink color, assuming you ordered your card thermographed or flat-printed.

Orientation:  Please be sure to order the card vertically or horizontally, depending on the photo you're going to use!!  Some designs are available only in one orientation.  This is noted in the description for that item.

Postage:  Square cards require additional postage because of their shape.  Cards with ribbons may also require additional postage because of their thickness.  Please check with the post office before mailing your cards to ensure that you have applied the correct postage.

Foreign language:  You may use any foreign language using the English alphabet at no additional charge.  Proof required if any foreign language is used (see below for information about proofs).

Designs:  Add a design for no additional charge if printed in the same ink color as your text.  Click here to see the available designs.  On order form, specify where you would like the design placed.

Envelope colors: See the description on each card.

Extra envelopes:  Extra envelopes are available for $10 per 25.  Extra envelopes with your return address flat or thermograph printed are $15 per 25.  With letterpress printing, $17.50 per 25, and with engraved printing $20 per 25.

Ribbons:  Ribbons are included if your card is shown with a ribbon. They are interchangeable except where noted. You may add a ribbon to another item for $1 per ribbon.

Reorders:  Because most of the work involved in printing is in the setting up of the press to run your order, there is no special pricing on a reorder--it's  priced the same as any new order would be.  Be sure you have ordered enough the first time!  As you can see from the price chart, the incremental cost of 25 cards is much less than a new order.

Printer's proof:  Faxed black & white proof available:  $22 for first proof; $16 for each additional proof.  (If you do not have a fax number, we can email an image file of your proof.)

Delivery time:  To determine your Delivery Time, add your order's Proofing Time, Printing Time and Shipping Time, as follows (all times are best estimates and are not guaranteed):

Ground:  varies from 2-10 business days, depending upon how far you are from the printing location in Maine.  We don't charge you for ground shipping on orders totaling $400 or more.  (If the order is less than $400, shipping is $8 per order.)

2 business day Federal Express:  $27 for shipping and handling for orders of less than 1000 cards.  Shipping cost for larger orders is based on weight and destination.

Next business day Federal Express:  $32 for shipping and handling for orders of less than 1000 cards.  Shipping cost for larger orders is based on weight and destination.

International Shipping: The shipping costs shown above are for deliveries within the continental US. Costs will be greater for deliveries to other destinations. International customers are responsible for any customs duties of the destination country. Customs documents will show package contents as "merchandise-stationery" and the value shown will be the purchase price of your order.
